Ice Bucket Challenge – Miracle or Debacle?
ALS afflicts approximately 30,000 people in America
Average number diagnosed in the US each year: 5,600
2 out of every 100,000 people are diagnosed with ALS
Approximately 140,000 people Worldwide…
Approx 2.4 Million Challenge Videos (as of Aug 18th, 2014)
On average AT LEAST 2.25 gallons of water per video (Many with MUCH MUCH more used)
A conservative estimate of approximately 5.4 Million Gallons
of clean water (on the low side) as of August 18th
Humans require about 2 quarts (Roughly 2 litres) per day, just to live.
This equates to 10.8 Million SURVIVAL rations.
________________________________________________________
On average 1,400 people DIE — EVERY DAY
(That 1,400 – THAT is just children age 5 and under)
Due To Lack of Clean Water!
By the Numbers
144,000 CHILDREN DIE
every 5 months due to LACK Of CLEAN WATER.
5 Months – Roughly 150 Days…
150 days worth of water rations equals roughly
10.8 Million 2 quart rations for 144,000 people.
144,000 CHILDREN … DEAD
Due To Lack Of Water
Oh!! You might notice – the water that was simply dumped and wasted over the course of a Few Short Weeks would have been
ENOUGH TO SAVE 144,000 LIVES…

In Point of Fact – one might argue that those who are participating in this "Challenge" are also a party to manslaughter. There was no intent or malice, to be sure.
But, nonetheless, people’s lives are lost…

Is the Ice Bucket Challenge helping raise funds for ALS research?
Yes It IS!! Very VERY VERY much so … $22.9 Million as of Aug 20th.
Well, (they claim) around 27% of that will be used on research. Here is their breakdown:
Image Above from ALSA.org
Or, if you want to look at the Research Monies, it is closer to 7.71% of its budget (as per 2012 breakdown). Click for Larger Image
(The consolidated financial summary, which is the the complete combination of all expenses in percentage to their revenue and total expanses has been removed from the 2014 report, but if you go to the 2013, same scenario occurs, only 10% of it went to research.)
Revenue from all sources for the fiscal year of The ALS Association ending January 31, 2014 was $29,102,318. Total expenditures for the fiscal year were $26,204,122.
By the way – a "Charity" who has a CEO with an income of nearly $300,000.00 ??? Ludicrous …

However, the Ice Bucket Challenge IS,
in absolute mathematical point of FACT,
the most Horrifyingly Grotesque Insult to Humanity
Masquerading as Philanthropic
since Sally Struthers marched her fat ass on camera
in front of starving children.
Just my 2 cents … Salty
