A Real-Life Magneto??

It seems that Miroslav Magola might possibly be a real-life Magneto. Straight out of X-Men ... Is it sleight of hand? Is it just a parlor trick? Or, is it the real deal? Apparently, or so it seems, by raising his skin temperature and exhibiting other physiciological changes, Miroslav Magola can magnetically attract solid objects and stick them to his body. Check this out! Read more [...]

German ‘Biohacker’ Implants Massive Computer Chip In Forearm

German biohacker and transhumanist Tim Cannon may be the first known human to implant a computer chip capable of transmitting biometrical data to an android device. During an interview with Motherboard Magazine, the “Circadia 1.0,” an open-source device capable of recording and transmitting body temperature over Bluetooth, was successfully implanted into Cannon’s left forearm. Built by Cannon and his business associates at Grindhouse Wetware, a company focused on “merging man and machine,” the large chip was implanted by body modifier Steve Haworth without the use of anesthesia. The battery powered device, enclosed in a protective case, is charged wirelessly through the use of a charging coil Read more [...]

Flight turns unforgettable when passengers learn of fallen soldier

By John E. DiScala Oct 31, 2013 Delta Flight 2255 from Atlanta to Los Angeles. (Photo: Courtesy of Johnny Jet) Delta Flight 2255 from Atlanta to Los Angeles seemed to be an ordinary flight with the exception of Candy, who was the most loving flight attendant I’ve ever encountered. Besides using her Southern charm to quickly defuse every situation, she began her welcome announcement by thanking the handful of uniformed soldiers on-board for serving our country. Her poignant message was followed by applause, and it put into perspective that none of us would be able to do what we do without these brave men and women. But this transcontinental flight turned out Read more [...]

X-Men: Days of Future Past

I am STOKED!! Okay, call me a fan-boy, whatever ... I don't care. I do understand that the movies do not really follow the exacting premise of the myths as described within the comic books. Honestly, I don't care. Thus far, the movie franchise has delivered what I expected: Sci-Fi Fun - plain and simple. The latest itteration of the X-Men universe is headed this way and I am totally excited about it. X-Men: Days of Future Past combines the cast from the original X-Men trilogy with that of 2011's prequel, X-Men: First Class. The trailer/teaser is here and it looks to be more of a really good thing while throwing some amazing twists into the story. Comic book fans may hate it - personally, I totally dig Read more [...]

Cop Mistakes Jolly Ranchers for Meth, Arrests Innocent Man then Lies About It

“The officer confidently states that he has had professional training in the identification of meth-amphetamine.” Apparently he went to Willy Wonka’s school of drug identification. However, spending over 24 hours in jail for the possession of candy is not laughing matter. Hopefully the young man from Brooklyn gets well compensated for the NYPD’s overt ignorance. Love Olatunijojo, 25, and an unidentified friend purchased Jolly Ranchers at the It’Sugar candy emporium in Coney Island last June. Several blocks away, cops stopped and searched the friends and mistook the candies for crystal meth, according to the lawsuit. Read more [...]

Spectacular ‘Canyon of Fire’ Rips Across the Sun in NASA Video

When a 200,000-mile (320,000-kilometer) filament of solar material tore through the sun last month, it cut what looks like a "canyon of fire" in our closest star, new NASA observations show. Researchers at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md., pieced together a video of the sun's fire "canyon" of the phenomenon based on images collected on Sept. 29 and 30 by the space agency's sun-watching Solar Dynamics Observatory. The sun is mainly comprised of plasma, which is a soup of charged particles that forms when gas atoms get so hot that their electrons detach. The movement of these charged particles creates intense magnetic fields, which give rise to the wispy loops and violent Read more [...]
