Health care website firms on hot seat in House today

WASHINGTON — Contractors who built the troubled health care website are testifying Thursday that confusion between the tech firms and high demand for insurance led to problems with the HealthCare.gov site. But Cheryl Campbell, senior vice president of CGI Federal, says in her prepared remarks before the House Energy and Commerce Committee that the Obama administration ultimately bears responsibility. "The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have the overall responsibility for administering the Federal Exchange Program System," Campbell wrote in her testimony, saying the federal agency "serves the important role of systems integrator or quarterback on this project and is the ultimate responsible Read more [...]

Everyone on Food Stamps – Your Benefits are Going Down $36 starting November 1st

Millions of American families could face a sparse holiday table when food stamps benefits get reduced in November, and that could be just the start of deeper cuts to the program to feed poor families. The modern-day food stamp plan, now called the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, is scheduled to scale back benefits for all recipients on Nov. 1 because a recession-era boost in benefits is expiring. The cut comes as lawmakers also are considering billions of dollars of reductions to the overall SNAP program, which has grown substantially in recent years amid the weak economy and high unemployment. The program is now serving more than 23 million households, or nearly 48 million people, according to the most Read more [...]

Bitcoin – Myths

Bitcoin is just like all other digital currencies; nothing new Nearly all other digital currencies are centrally controlled. This means that: They can be printed at the subjective whims of the controllers They can be destroyed by attacking the central point of control Arbitrary rules can be imposed upon their users by the controllers Being decentralized, Bitcoin solves all of these problems. Bitcoins don't solve any problems that fiat currency and/or gold doesn't solve Unlike gold, bitcoins are: Easy to transfer Easy to secure Easy to verify Easy to granulate Unlike fiat currencies, bitcoins are: Predictable Read more [...]

Thousands Of Consumers Get Insurance Cancellation Notices Due To Health Law Changes

Health plans are sending hundreds of thousands of cancellation letters to people who buy their own coverage, frustrating some consumers who want to keep what they have and forcing others to buy more costly policies. The main reason insurers offer is that the policies fall short of what the Affordable Care Act requires starting Jan. 1. Most are ending policies sold after the law passed in March 2010.  At least a few are cancelling plans sold to people with pre-existing medical conditions. By all accounts, the new policies will offer consumers better coverage, in some cases, for comparable cost -- especially after the inclusion of federal subsidies for those who qualify. The law requires policies sold in the individual Read more [...]

28 Signs That The West Coast Is Being Absolutely Fried With Nuclear Radiation From Fukushima

Michael Snyder Activist Post The map below comes from the Nuclear Emergency Tracking Center. It shows that radiation levels at radiation monitoring stations all over the country are elevated. As you will notice, this is particularly true along the west coast of the United States. Every single day, 300 tons of radioactive water from Fukushima enters the Pacific Ocean. That means that the total amount of radioactive material released from Fukushima is constantly increasing, and it is steadily building up in our food chain. Ultimately, all of this nuclear radiation will outlive all of us by a very wide margin. They are saying that it could take up to 40 years to clean up the Fukushima disaster, and meanwhile countless Read more [...]

Snowden leaks: France summons US envoy over spying claims

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius has summoned the US ambassador over newspaper claims that the US spied on millions of phone calls in France. France has labelled such activity between allies as "unacceptable". Le Monde says the data, based on leaks from ex-intelligence analyst Edward Snowden, suggest the US NSA agency monitored businesses and officials as well as terrorism suspects. The intercepts were apparently triggered by certain key words. The paper says the National Security Agency (NSA) spied on 70.3 million phone calls in France in just 30 days between December 10 last year and January 8, 2013. The agency also apparently captured millions of text messages. It Read more [...]

Britney Spears’ Isolated Vocal Track

Holy Hell ... To say the very least ... Certain things are better left unheard: Britney Spears' alleged actual singing voice, in this allegedly isolated vocal track from a 2001 Las Vegas concert is quite possibly one of those things. Is it unfair to be critical and/or judgemental about this? Actually she's not even really supposed to be singing. Her basic job in Vegas is to look like she looks and wiggle it around as much as possible. However, it's difficult not to compare the thing below to outstanding isolated vocals from The Beatles, David Bowie and Freddie Mercury, Whitney Houston and even Kurt Cobain. Really wanna push it? Check out Bobby Brown! I suppose it is possibile that this is a Read more [...]

Fukushima Radiation: Your Days of Eating Pacific Ocean Fish Are Over, Or Worse…

By: Gary Stamper When it comes to environmental disasters, the nuclear fallout at Fukushima has to be amongst the worst that has happened in the past few decades. Andrew Kishner, founder of www.nuclearcrimes.org has put together a great resource of information that tracks what has been developing over time in Fukushima as it relates to the nuclear incident. You can check out his research here. Fukushima Radiation: Your Days of Eating Pacific Ocean Fish Are Over, Or Worse..."The heart-breaking news from Fukushima just keeps getting worse…a LOT worse…it is, quite simply, an out-of-control flow of death and destruction. TEPCO is finally admitting that radiation has been leaking to the Pacific Ocean all along. Read more [...]
